How To Improve Plant Growth

Many of us look forward to spring with a mixture of anticipation and dread, especially when we realize the work that needs to be done. However, all that hard work can leave you with a beautiful yard.

If it snows a ton where you live, it is a good idea to walk around and see what may need done when it gets warmer. During winter you can clean up broken twigs that have fallen or garbage that blew into your yard.

When you're really ready to tackle the yard work, it is a good idea to rake leaves, especially if you have a lot in one area of the yard. Decomposing leaves are great for the grass, but if you have a huge pile the grass underneath can't get fresh air and sunshine.

It is also important to prune trees. Pruning helps the tree get more sunshine for growth and will allow fruit trees to produce nicer fruit. Getting rid of the dead or damaged branches helps the tree look better, too. Cutting off the dying flowers also helps new flowers grow instead.

Before gardening, get rid of all the weeds and plants not wanted. They may be old, dying or damaged and there's no reason to keep them. When buying new plants, make sure there are no weeds intermixed with the plant. Keep weeds from growing by doing less cultivating around the area. Just add some organic mulch and the worms will do the work for you. You can also buy weed paper and cover that with mulch to further prevent weeds from growing. It's all a great deal of work, but you can't argue with the results.
