Choosing The Right Space For The Perfect Plant

There are several important factors to take into consideration when landscaping your yard. The size, shape and color are important. Making the right choices will only come with the study and planning for your landscaping needs.

Remember to allow for the mature height and width of the plant when making your selections, especially when adding a tree to the landscaping. Planning for the overall mature shape of your plants will enhance your finished landscape effect. The plant may be round, tall and straight, or be a ground cover. Will it bear fruit, change color with the season, and keep its foliage during the winter months or die back? You will want to allow for these changes so your yard or garden will remain to be an attractive area.

Layering that area according to color can be a challenge as well. You will need to know the mature size and blooming season for the plant in order to put it in the proper place. If you place a plant that will grow to a taller height in front of a plant that has a shorter mature height, the colorful shorter plant might become hidden from view.

You can create an interesting focal point by using plants of varying heights. By placing a taller plant toward the back among a group of shorter plants, you can create a beautiful, dramatic effect. If you are fortunate enough to have a beautiful natural view from your yard, be sure not to hide it by planting a tree or shrub that will eventually grow taller and block that natural scenery.
