One Plant's Appearance Can Make All the Difference

Have you ever been driving down the road and looked over to see a garden that really looks nice? It did not just happen without any work involved. The truth is it probably took years to get it that way. Attention to detail and hard work probably went into that garden.

That is why it is so important to put each plant in its proper place, and take good care of that plant. If you have large shrubs and plant smaller ones in front of them, it is critical that you keep them trimmed in a way that is pleasing to the eye. One overgrown plant can take away from the overall appearance of a garden.

In addition, you must keep the soil under that plant appropriate to support it. It is vital to fertilize the soil. One good way to do that is organically. Compost is a cost-effective material for gardening. Save all those trimmings, leaves, racked grass, whatever you have for the compost pile. Keep it moist, and turned. When the compost has completely broken down, add it to the soil around plants or in flower beds.

If a plant in the garden has become ill, you must address this problem as the infection might be contagious. Ask your local nursery for help in this matter. They will be able to help you diagnose, and offer solutions to the problem.

Some plants need full sun while others need full shade. It is a good idea to keep a notebook with the names of each plant in a garden and its needs. That way you can look back and make sure the needs are being met.
