How beautiful the season is when all the leaves on the trees turn golden yellow, red, orange and brown. The leaves are just so lovely to look at and it is sad to see them fall to the ground. Not only do we not want to see the beauty of the leaves disappear, but we do not want to have to rake up all the leaves from our yards.
Nature has a plan for everything. We actually need those leaves to fall from the trees so we can use them for so many different things later the next season. They can be raked in to a pile and create a compost that can be used in the garden in the springtime. As a matter of fact, you do not have to wait until next spring to reap the benefits of the leaves because you can spread the leaves over the garden area this fall and turn them over in the soil come spring.
Some people feel that it isn't necessary to rake the leaves from their lawn each fall. That is one sure way of damaging your lawn for the following year. The leaves get packed down on top of the lawn during the winter and create a padding that prevents any type of fertilizing done from being able to penetrate down to the soil. This will create problems for the spring lawn. The packed leaves will also prevent any air or water from reaching the soil and could cause the lawn to die.
