Keeping up a nice yard really is a lot of work, but doing a little each day and fixing any problems as soon as they appear will cut the time spent down dramatically. There are some simple inexpensive ways to keep your yard looking awesome.
Fall is here, and all those pretty leaves will soon turn brown; they will then litter your yard. There are some alternatives to raking them up and disposing of them in a landfill. Does your mower mulch? You can buy a lawn vacuum that also mulches; either of these will create the mulch you will need to protect roots over the winter. Also, the next time you do buy a mower, invest in one that does mulch; this actually saves money in the long run because you will be making your own fertilizer. The mulched grass clippings fall down below the grass surface and decay, creating excellent made-at-home fertilizer. If you mow and the grass is a little longer than usual and leaves clumps of grass, these really need to be raked up. These clumps will block light and air from getting to that patch of grass, creating an ugly brown spot. Remember to inspect your yard and plants often, as insects can really cause some major problems. Catching an invasion of the nasty creatures before they totally destroy your work is very important.
After putting all that hard work into your yard, you want it to grow and flourish. Remember the basics; in order for them to grow and flourish, you must provide the correct environment. This includes feeding, watering, and controlling harmful invaders such as insects and disease.
