Eyecatching Plants

Making a yard or lawn noticeable can be easy if done properly. First, making your lawn itself appealing is a primary essential. The nutrients which help your yard grow can be the same to help your plants. Using a dark, rich, black soil with the addition of compost and peat is advisable. A layer of the soil about 4 to 6 inches will help to develop a better and healthier root system. A crawling or thick grass will make your yard look full and green. Three such grasses are Argentina or Pensicola Bahaia, St. Augustine, or Zoyia. These types develop a good, strong root system. A proper fertilizer and consistent watering is necessary.

The cardinal vine is one of the best optical additions. It is also similar to the Cyprus vine and star glory. All of these vines are climbers. Having a fence, trellis or pole will benefit the vine for full effect. The cardinal climber is dark red on a green foliage, grows fast, and can reach 10 to 15 feet, but can travel along the fence-line. Sometimes they have a white or yellow throat blooming from spring to late fall. They are constantly in bloom and are good feeders for hummingbirds and butterflies. The dark red blooms with greenery will contrast the view of your lawn and add beauty. Consider using this plant for an eye-catching, optical, and visual drawing benefit.

With a great looking yard, appealing plants, and flowers to draw attention, you can be the talk of the neighborhood. However, it sometimes does not take flowers for you to be the conservation piece anyway.
